Pick Up the Baton
Community Music Program
In affiliation with Faith Lutheran Church

Beginning instrument class, Cadet Band and Concert Band

Beginning instruments
5th grade minimum age recommended
We will meet at Sutter Creek Methodist Church, 14 main st. Sutter Creek. Class time will be on Tuesday and
Thursday from 4:15 to 5:00 pm. Classes start Sept 7th, 2010.
Instruments being taught at the Sutter Creek location will be Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet. Students will be required
to bring their own instrument to class, either through purchase or rental. Instruments can be rented through
Mother Lode Music or by other means.
Cost of class is $20.00 per month

Cadet band
will meet at Sutter Creek Methodist Church, 14 main st. Sutter Creek. Class time will be on Tuesday and Thursday
from 2:45 to 4:00 pm. Classes start Sept 7th, 2010.
This class is open to all students who have had one year of instrument instruction.
Cost of class is $20.00 per month

Concert Band
Is available for those musicians who have been playing a minimum of 2 1/2 years or by audition. This group
meets at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 22601 Highway 88 and meets on Monday’s and Thursday’s from 3:45
to 5:00 pm.
Cost of class is $20.00 per month

Beginning Percussion Class
A beginning drum class will be taught by John Bosch at the Jackson Methodist Church. This will be
a separate class and not affiliated with “Pick Up the Baton” John can be reached at 223-3413 for information
on class times and costs.
Classes will be taught by Jeff and Steve Chambers, both hold degrees in Music.
Enrollment forms can be downloaded at out web site http://www.pickupthebaton.com then
click on the enrollment tab. Forms can be sent by mail or picked up at Mother Lode Music,
Martell.

How to find us
Faith Lutheran Church is located just east of the intersection of State Highways 88 and 26. You may know Highway 26 as the Red Corral Road or the West Point Road. Regardless, you must stay on Highway 88 going east. You will see the "Come as you are" sign on your left just before you get to the entrance.The big "X" marks the location of Faith Lutheran on the map.

Faith Lutheran Church is providing the use of their facilities for this very important community project

This is a very important grassroots effort to make sure that music will always be available to our youth and to our community as a whole. Do you have a band instrument sitting in the closet collecting dust? how about a music stand, percussion equipment like drums, cymbals, wood blocks, bells? what about band music! We will accept any of these items and make sure they go to the benfit of the students. Any donations through Paypal will go directly to either music or supplies.
